5 Ways to Keep Your Cosmetics

5 Ways to Keep Your Cosmetics

See the 5 key steps you need to take to succeed in blocking or minimizing various micro-organisms in the life cycle of a product.

1. Clean equipment - Use isopropyl alcohol, chlorine or other appropriate disinfectant to clean your equipment thoroughly. Heated steam, which means water above 100 ° C, also works well with disinfection.

2. Pure water - Avoid using tap water at any stage of your preparation. Sterile, distilled or deionized water is preferable.

3. Preservatives - Use a preservative or a combination of preservatives that offer protection from a wide range of microorganisms, which can neutralize bacteria and mold. Caution! It is recommended to add the preservatives to the water phase or after completing the mixture, but not in the oil phase.

Another solution that is friendly to your product is the use of preservative essential oils and fragrances that have antimicrobial properties. Among these are carnation, cumin, eucalyptus, lavender, lemon and thyme.

4. Packaging optimization - Last but certainly not least is the issue of the right packaging. The right packages are those that protect the product with a suitable lid, but they also have a distribution system that does not require direct contact with your fingers.

5. ALWAYS mark the date of manufacture on your packaging, using a self-adhesive tape or otherwise, to remove the product at the time the prescription indicates, whether or not there is a distortion.

Expected lifetime

Of course, it is not possible to accurately predict the shelf life of each product in which a particular preservative has been used or not. However, its maintenance is certainly influenced by some key factors, which are obviously related to the above. But let us see them here too to assimilate them:

  • The conditions in which a product has been manufactured. How well disinfected the tools and utensils.
  • The purity of the ingredients, which may also depend on you, may even from where you supplied it.
  • Storage conditions, including sun exposure, humidity and, of course, storage temperature.

So read the instructions and follow them with care keeping - among all others - and the maintenance time of your product.
