8 things to do first before you go out to the sun

Our exposure to the sun for many reasons is healing as well as a burden to our body, and it can cause damage - cutaneous, pathological - as we know very well. That's why we provide an 8-step guide to protect our body, skin and health in general. Also, find out how long is good ourselves to the sun with no protection.

1. Ιntensive hydration

High temperatures cause fatigue, in an effort that makes our body keep its temperature steady, and dehydration is another consequence. So what do we do? Hydration! Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, fruit and vegetables juices.

As we sweat, we lose electrolytes from our body and disturb the balance of fluid that is necessary for the proper functioning of our body. Some tips:

  • Do not get too tired to start drinking fluids. We take care of our body regularly.
  • Highly frozen beverages, alcoholic beverages and coffee can cause dehydration.
  • If you sweat strongly, add a little extra salt to your diet to replenish sodium.

2. Strengthening the metabolism

Initially, improving metabolic function means weight loss. And this is a demand before going out to the beaches, then let's take it into account. Besides, it is first of all for our health and then for aesthetics.

What can we do to improve our metabolism? We need to follow some balanced nutrition rules. The Mediterranean diet is appropriate. We choose vegetables, especially green leafy, fresh seasonal fruits, as well as herbs such as parsley and basil as they contain many nutrients and saturation.

Necessary for good health and improving our metabolism is exercise. The daily walk, swimming and yoga increase burns in our body can help maintain our weight and muscular system.

3. Skin preparation

The health of our skin requires exfoliation, because it cleans in depth by removing the dead cells at the same time, while facilitating the absorption of the moisturizing cream.

Whichever exfoliating product you choose, scrub for a few minutes with a hard sponge or with hands in circular movements. It takes care not to exaggerate the pressure you exert because your skin can be injured. Then make sure to hydrate your skin before going out in the sun.

4. Facial treatment

Our face needs special care as it is exposed to the sun more than any other part of our body. So the treatment is different. For the face we avoid peeling in the summer and we emphasize hydration. The role of exfoliation, however, can be played by vitamin C beers. This vitamin helps in the production of collagen and elastin, retains water in the skin, thus moisturizing our skin properly. At the same time, it helps protect against the dangerous radiation of the sun.

5. Depilation

It is one of the main issues, the majority of women needs to deal with especially during summer. The beach and summer clothes require a body that is clean from hair growth. At the heart of the summer, due to the strong sunshine, we avoid the laser and turn to the wax or the halo. Depilation with these materials can prove to be particularly effective because it weakens the hair, reducing hair growth after several uses.

6. Hair care

There are moisturizing nourishing and toning treatments that you can apply safely to your hair and protect them from the sun, sea and pool chlorine. You can also get sunscreen products for hair that enhance the natural hair protection and prevent damage.

You will find them in various forms: gels, sprays, oil, cream. See what suits you best and treat your hair!

7. Sun protection and vitamin D

The sun is decisive for our body and our lives. Helps support body functions and regulates our biological clock. It helps to improve our mood, strengthens metabolism and positively affects the circulatory and immune system. But its most important benefits are its contribution to the synthesis of vitamin D, which is linked to the health of our bones.

Only with bone health? Research shows that this vitamin affects many areas of our health, benefiting from autoimmune diseases, Alzheimer's disease, hypertension, cancer, diabetes, pregnancy, child development, etc. It plays a role regulator, which gives it hormone characteristics.

Most of (90%) is synthesized by absorbing UVB solar radiation from the skin. In fact, some sun exposure times are required without sun protection to synthesize the amount we need. Specifically, 3-15 minutes for light skin type and 15-30 minutes for dark skin type.

But the sun is not harmless. It is the main factor in creating free radicals in the body, causing damage to the skin. That's why we wear hats, eyeglasses and we take measures to protect our skin with sunscreen.

8. Detoxification

Antioxidants are our main weapon against free radicals produced by solar radiation. There are studies that suggest specific foods with a high nutritional protection index, with carotenoids as the essential nutrient. These include: tomato, watermelon, carrot, red grapefruit, pumpkin, apricot, corn, spinach, peanuts.

So enjoy adequate hydration and protection for your body and skin and enjoy the sun freely!
