AGRICULTURE: The combination of vacations with the soul-renewing nature!
The idea of a 'live like a local' combined with a city man who has a need to feel close to nature in the countryside makes rural tourism more convenient than ever.
The traveler becomes friends with the resident who hosts him and they spend days and nights with farm and livestock work, with recipes for swimming and hiking, sweating on the terrace and in the garden below the stars.
In Greece agrotourism has developed quite a bit both in the islands and on the mainland, either for summer or winter. The geographical choices are many, such as mountainous Crete and the villages of eastern Pelion.
There you can help with your farming activities depending on the season. Autumn is the vineyards, the wine and the tsipouro. Winter has olives and olives. In the spring the gardens are cultivated and in the summer fruits and fruits are harvested.
If you love animals, there are enough livestock jobs to assist in feeding and grazing, milking and cleaning the area. Try the yogurt you make and see the techniques for cheese.
Visit agrotourism cooperatives and attend cooking and pastry lessons for spoon sweets and jams.
In many areas agrotourism is combined with craftsmanship. There are workshops for textiles, ceramics, ornaments and gifts. Of course if there are wineries in the area do not miss the chance to try local wines, tsipouro or raki!
Our advice is as soon as you reach the area of your choice look at the beautiful scenery around you and plan your first getaways on trails that encompass wetlands, national parks, lush hillsides and serene beaches.
The next morning let the chirping of the birds wake you up, enjoy your breakfast under the tree in the yard and start enjoying the day!
