Dry skin? See the foods that can calm it

By saying 'dry' we mean, in this case, the skin suffering from eczema, also known as atopic eczema or dermatitis.

Those who experience this problem know that it is something that causes, in addition to dryness, itchiness and peeling. In some cases, the skin locally exhibits wounds that bleed and require care not to become infected.

It is estimated to be due to the body's reaction to an environmental agent - such as dust - as well as one or more foods. Appears many times in infants, who usually retire before the age of 6 years. But the fact that someone did not show it in his baby's life does not mean that he will never show it. It can actually occur at any time, especially in those cases that suffer from asthma or an allergy.




Which foods help against the inflammation of the eczema

Omega 3 fats. Foods that are rich in omega-3 fat help reduce inflammation. Fatty fish such as salmon, mackerel, but also economical but valuable sardines are suitable for this. Linseed is also a source of O3-rich fat.

In case your child does not eat fish, and especially this class, you can either taste linseed oil to get the fat you need, or give yourself an O3 supplement. Of course, it will take time, weeks or maybe months, so your own skin or your child can come back, so you have patience.

Vitamins C, D and E. Vitamin C is particularly helpful in healing the skin, so start by enriching your diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Vitamin D is synthesized in our body with the help of the sun. However, in cases where the vitamin is low, it is possible to take it through a supplement, the dose of which is good with your doctor.

Vitamin E is particularly effective in soothing irritated skin. It is found in olive oil, fruit or seeds. Generally prefer oil from such raw materials, as opposed to butter.


Nutritional calendar

As we have said, the appearance of eczema may be associated with some foods. It is good to keep a diary for a period of about 15 days to see if and with what foods it can be associated with. Once you find this food, remove it from your diet and your skin will return to normal.

First and foremost, however, you should visit your dermatologist to agree exactly what you will do, but also which treatment is considered the most appropriate if required.


Which are the most common allergens?

Milk. Usually cow's milk causes allergies. However, sheep and goat may also trigger allergies.

Citrus fruits, tomatoes. These precious fruits are very likely in many cases to cause an allergy because of their acidity.

Egg. It is one of the most common allergens and is associated with eczema.

Nuts. Nuts from trees can cause reactions in the body.

Gluten. Intoxication to this substance may include eczema in its symptoms.

Preservatives, dyes. These are chemicals that are included in allergens, so for some, they are one more reason to avoid them.
