Some people maybe have already realized that sporting outdoors, for example running in a nice, green park, gives us a more advanced well-being in comparison with the gym.

So looking for factual answers on the influence of the surrounding area in a sportsperson, scientists conclude that "green exercise" has multiple benefits.

The scientists, Charilaos Kouthouris, professor specializing in Kinetic Sports, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, University of Thessaly, and John Giannakopoulos Professor of Physical Education (M.Sc.), conducted a survey of secondary school children, who participated in Outdoor Adventure Recreation programs during their 20-day stay in a summer mountain camp, and manage to enhance the outlook for the relationship between human body, physical activity and exercise in nature.

As the researcher Dr Aglaia Zafiroudis mentioned in ANA-MNA , the results of the research claimed that prolonged active participation of children - adolescents in green forms exercise , such as Outdoor Activities programs, dramatically improve the Environmental Awareness of students and their love for nature protection.

The activity outdoors increases your fitness level with comparatively lower level of perceived exercise. In other words, a person who is engaged to improve the physical condition in free natural environment does not perceive the actual level of physical tiredness while acting. This encourages the continuation of exercise.

 Exercise in the countryside seems to play an important role in the person's psychology. Specifically, improves the mood and self-esteem, reduces stress, relaxes the brain, positively changing the behavior and gives the impression that it is easier as a method of exercise.

Modern research has also supported and accepted that staying, observing, contacting humans with nature and the natural environment has beneficial effects, by improving brain concentration and brain function. So, the idea of green exercise is supported worldwide and is carried within modern scientific areas and disciplines such as environmental psychology.

One more asset is that outdoor exercise is more likely to lead to lifelong adoption of exercise. Alongside, the possibility to be carried out in a wide variety of different forms of natural environment, such as forests, snowy landscapes or sandy beaches, leads the person not being tired of monotonous environments.

Activities such as mountain biking, hiking, climbing, rafting, kayaking canoeing, skiing, diving, sailing etc. are just few of the choices someone has ever wanted to get away from the box of his everyday life and get a small dose of action in nature.
