Blue Spirulina: A superfood That Will Take You Off
In recent years dozens of foods and dietary supplements have been classified as super foods, often with an overdose. However, this little seaweed, spirulina, has earned its "sword" designation as a superfluous.
Spirulina has been tested by NASA for astronauts because of its high nutritional value, as it contains high amounts of protein and dozens of other nutrients (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, etc.).

Spirulina is a small seaweed that grows in both sea and fresh water. Its distinctive green color is due to its two main constituents: Chlorophyll green and phycocyanin, as it is called a blue substance exclusively found in spirulina.
Blue spirulina results from the isolation of phycocyanin by the extraction method. That is, this commercially available blue dye is absolutely natural.
Indeed, blue spirulina retains many of the beneficial properties of spirulina, without having an unpleasant taste. In addition, blue spirulina preparations contain very high doses of phycocyanin, which has antioxidant activity.
Phycocyanin: A potent antioxidant
The intense color of the algae is an indicator of the high concentration of antioxidants. Phycocyanin can effectively combat free radicals and chronic inflammation.
There are several studies that show that phycocyanin can protect the cells in the liver, kidneys, heart and nervous system due to antioxidants. In addition, it can adequately strengthen the immune system.
Of course, both blue spirulina and "mom" (green spirulina) contain phycocyanin. The difference is that blue spirulina contains large amounts of fucocyanin, while green spirulina is a whole food, with proteins, amino acids, carotenoids, minerals, in combination with many B vitamins.
Another key difference, as mentioned above, is their taste. Green Spirulina doesn't have the… best flavor, as it smells like any seaweed. Blue Spirulina has a neutral taste, so it is much easier to consume or combine with other ingredients.

How to use blue spiral
Just half a teaspoon can fill your body with antioxidants and give blue to all drinks, sweets and makeshift snacks.
To extract 1 gram of spirulina blue, approximately 58 grams of ordinary spirulina is used.
Blue spirulina has the highest protein concentration of any known food (65% - 71%) and contains 18 amino acids which play an important role in tissue and cell regeneration. This makes it ideal for athletes who want rehabilitation, but also for vegans who want a vegetable source of protein.
